Fed: Bosses spending more on training: ABS =2
Education Minister Brendan Nelson later congratulated Australian employers on the strengthof the figures.
He said they had recognised the importance of training for their workers and for theircontribution to the investment everyone made in creating a highly skilled workforce.
"This demonstrates industry and employer confidence in Australia's system of vocationaleducation and training and recognition that professionally skilled employees are essentialto business efficiency and growth," Dr Nelson said in a statement.
He said the federal government would invest $1.9 billion in training in 2002-03.
